I read the front-page story June 27 about Memorial's comments about St. Elizabeth's. To me, the last paragraph made the most sense. Why comment when you don't know what is in the report?
Then I read the opinion column, which ponders the question of an eyesore if they abandon the buildings. What guarantees do any of the towns get when big box stores and developers get tax breaks and infrastructure incentives?
With all the discussion about VA or mental facilities being in need of expansion, perhaps this would be a viable use of the property. And if we don't get the current owners stirred up too much, it could be bought for a bargain.
