I have always found the Belleville News-Democrat to be fair; the editors often print articles and take positions I don't agree with. On the other hand, the News-Democrat has given everyone a voice. And we owe this paper a debt of gratitude for exposing the many scandals in St. Clair and Madison counties.
The article about the gay marriage was news; like it or hate, it was just news.
There was a time in America that you could disagree with someone without starting World War III. Is it any wonder that Washington, D.C., is so impotent when a local paper can't print what it sees as news without criticism?
To all the opinionated fools: Start your own paper, it's still a free country.
