So, the Madison County School District 7 board has, in their infinite wisdom, decided that a vacant seat (due to a resignation) on the board should be filled by someone who was not re-elected by the voters in the last election.
As a voter, homeowner and taxpayer, I find that action an insult to me and all voters of the county. If we (as a whole) had wanted this person on the board, he would have been re-elected.
This action reminded me of what the Democratic Party did some years ago when our state representative Jay Hoffman (a Democrat) decided (or was convinced) to run for Congress against John Shimkus. Mr. Hoffman lost and also lost his seat in the state House of Representatives. So, what happened? The man who had won the state house seat (a Democrat) was talked into resigning and Mr. Hoffman was named as his replacement. Sound familiar?
