In reaction to the Supreme Court's recent Hobby Lobby decision, a bill titled Protect Women's Health from Corporate Interference Act (S. 2578) was introduced. This bill would take away any rights that employers, insurers, employees or private individuals have under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act to opt out of federally mandated coverage for any item.
While a motion to consider the bill narrowly failed in the Senate in July, Harry Reid preserved the right to reconsider the vote.
This bill would revoke conscience rights currently guaranteed by the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and other federal laws. In the future it could empower federal officials to mandate abortion or any other item in all health plans, thereby forcing Americans to violate deeply-held religious and moral beliefs with respect to human life.
I urge all Christians to ask their senators to vote against this bill.
