We will vote “no” twice on the O’Fallon water issues. A few good reasons.
All of the spending by the mayor and City Council is entirely out of control. Back-door dealings are possible with companies interested in our water and sewer.
Meeting lawyers in St. Louis behind everyone’s back; hiring consultants because we aren’t smart enough to figure anything out on our own. Spending money on a bridge for a walking trail when the one that was there worked great. Millions in the park every year.
Repaving roads in a town that already has good streets. I haven’t had a thing done to Cherry in front of my house in the 22 years I’ve lived there. I’m going to start sending my truck repair bills to City Hall.
Now they are making a big deal out of city employees making $80,000 year, that’s salary and benefits. Everyone needs to look at the City Hall staffing, they have the same benefits. The city is overstaffed; most live out of town and there’s patronage hiring. If you know someone, you’re in.
What this boils down to is a threat of new taxes to fix the roads that the city has pushed on the back burner for 30 years. And let’s sink our money in a loser convention center and a park that has become a white elephant.
Vote “no” twice.
