I don’t understand the math. We are wanting to lease the sewer and water that supposedly O’Fallon has lost money on nine out of 17 years. But of course we don’t know how much was lost, $1 or $10,000. And why? Capital improvements, major purchases, investment into new equipment?
Now the city wants us to believe that they will generate $50 million. Who in their right mind would buy anything that’s losing money when they won’t have control over rates? See what I’m getting at? This whole thing smells like a large sewer rate increase, so we can pay Belleville rates and Swansea rates.
The problem here is I don’t want any new tax increases, but the $30 a month on my taxes is cheaper than extra $40 every month for sewer. I’m tired of the priorities in spending. Do the people of O’Fallon know how bad we have been neglected on the presidents and tree streets? I’ve lived here for 22 years, nothing has ever been done to Oak or Cherry. But we build a convention center (loser) and a park we keep spending millions on every year
Shame on the mayor and City Council for letting this neglect go on for so long. Again, vote no twice on Tuesday.
Never miss a local story.
