A new water plant is definitely needed. Nevertheless, if the Lebanon City Council is allowed to continue robbing the money from the water fund, utility fund and any other funds available, the residents may never see safe quality water.
Contaminated drinking water will cause many health problems and people should not believe the City Council; people should drink bottled water to ensure safe drinking water. The fact that Lebanon permitted the water to become contaminated is unbelievable. One would think that the city’s need for a new, up-to-date water plant would be the highest priority, even over McKendree University beautification projects, but it’s not.
The fact that the City Council can only think of money and wants to raise fees for more revenue to spend at McKendree proves that the council cares very little for the residents. The council seems to be too busy saying yes to all of McKendree beautification projects, never refusing, no matter what it costs the people. This shows that the City Council has no interest in the people’s health, and that they spent all the money that was for improving the water plant. They have taken no steps to protect the people’s drinking water.
Their action is speaking loud, and their words have no weight. Saying the City Council has stopped thinking about the health and welfare of the residents, saying, with a loud and clear voice, that the people need to replace them.
