A recent letter listed the accomplishments of a fresh choice for alderman in Belleville’s Ward . While many were listed, I didn’t see one civic/community activity, no involvement in civic/neighborhood organization, no attendance at council meetings. A better choice for alderman would be someone who’s involved in neighborhood/community/ citizen development organizations.
Ward 8 candidate Roger Wiggington has been a west end business owner for no less than 39 years. For many years Roger has been involved with nearly 23 community/neighborhood/civic organizations. You can find him at almost every meeting. Roger has also served on the city Zoning Appeals Board.
I applaud Roger’s opponent for getting involved, but as a first-time entry into the City Council, the city needs someone with the experience, ideas and involvement to help Belleville grow and face its needs for economic and civic growth. There is only one candidate for Ward 8 and that is Wiggington.
Regardless of who you support, voters need to go to the polls on Tuesday.
Never miss a local story.
