It never ends, does it, for those who refuse to face the truth?
Baltimore was burned and looted by a flash mob of teenagers. These teenagers burned at least 140 cars. They were allowed to have “space to destroy.” They were allowed to chase armed police officers into retreat.
And after having done all these things, we are now told that these teenagers cannot be called thugs. They are children; or they are misdirected.
There is a very dangerous and sinister objective in demanding that these thugs be called something other than thugs. This is not simply about words. The same objection would be raised if these teenagers were being called hooligans or hoodlums.
Never miss a local story.
What is really going on here is a unified and focused effort to accomplish two objectives.
First, no matter how offensive the conduct may be, black activists are going to object to any word or phrase that brands these criminals in a negative light. Although truth justifies identifying these teenagers in a manner which accurately describes their character, black commentators are determined to use language to distort the true image of exactly who these young criminals are.
Second, black activists are desperate to sweep gross parenting failures under the rug by shifting attention to issues that are more compatible with their longstanding narrative of racial oppression and mistreatment.
Enough. The teenagers who looted and burned Baltimore are thugs. It is time for responsible Americans to put an end to the poison that oozes into this nation when political correctness is allowed to replace truth.
