The burning of fossil fuels has been beneficial to the advancement of technology and comfort of humans for centuries.
Maybe the excessive increase in carbon dioxide due to human activities of burning fossil fuels is due to so many people driving long distances to do their shopping, when years ago everything was within walking distance. Then came the car and cheap gasoline and it was fun to drive to the next town or village for a Coke or joy ride.
After people were hooked on cars, people thought it was fun to drive somewhere to shop, so shopping centers were built farther away with interior walkways that looked like the old boulevards. So now the problem, “climate change,” caused by burning fossil fuels.
Some people say there could be a huge financial bonanza due to spending trillions of dollars to protect the people and cities from floods, hurricanes and rising coastlines caused by climate change. What source of energy would be used to do this: water, wind, solar power or hot air? These trillions could be spent on so many other things. Why build another New Orleans? Take the high ground.
It might help if we stopped destroying our forests and stopped covering the land with massive concrete and asphalt shopping centers. It will take more than one nation.
