I find the preliminary statewide results from the PARCC testing appalling, to say the least. We are spending record amounts of taxpayer money on education, yet only 17 percent make the grade for high school math?
Is it any wonder Silicone Valley continually lobbies Obama to increase the number of work visas available for highly educated Asian and Indian students. American businesses can’t find qualified Americans to fill their technical jobs, and that’s an American tragedy. The PARCC testing results explain why.
Not to worry — these poor results are sure to impact teacher merit raises and the unions won’t stand for that. The already dumbed down tests will continue to be dumbed down until the number of failing students becomes less than 50 percent. After all, this is the age of teacher merit raises based on performance. The age of preparing students with the education and skills necessary to become successful and productive members of society ended with the era of teacher’s unions.
