Some Americans criticize the Obama administration as not being really American. I completely disagree. One of the most important qualities of a contemporary American is an ignorance of history, and no presidential administration has been more oblivious to the lessons of history than Obama’s. You just can’t get more American.
For example, the tragic lessons that should have been learned from the appeasement debacle created by Neville Chamberlain and often referred to just as “Munich,” has been repeated by Obama and the Democrats. They have signed a nuclear agreement with the Iranians. What the Obama people are calling a “peace agreement” is destined to end up in the same way as the “Munich Peace Agreement”: a shameful prelude to world war.
As Obama worries about his legacy, he shouldn’t bother. Like Chamberlain in 1939, no one will forget him, no matter how hard we try.
