The perception that Washington is doing nothing is real, but who is responsible? The electorate is almost equally divided ideologically, therefore, we the people are responsible for the stalemate.
With regards to funding Planned Parenthood, because Congress has a Republican majority and wants to defund it in the upcoming budget; the president and Democrats claim, Republicans (while representing citizens with an opposing view) want to close down the government. But it can also be said, because the president and Democrats support this organization, as well as others, they’re willing to close down the entire government to keep funding for one individual organization among the many they support. It can also be said Democrats want others who don’t support the views of some of what Planned Parenthood does to be required to fund such with their tax dollars anyway.
In reality, if the president vetoed such, the government really wouldn’t completely shutdown, despite the perception they want to give politically. Secondly, if Planned Parenthood is so vital, why can’t those who feel such funding is necessary do so individually in the private sector and not intrude on others in the public sector?
