I am not a backer of Donald Trump. I question if he has the temperament to be president. However, I thought Leonard Pitts’ article comparing Trump to Hitler was absurd. The BND erred in printing it.
Pitts and many people miss the reason why Trump is having such an impact on the presidential race. I cannot speak for others, but I, for one, am fed up with politics as usual at the local, state and national levels. I am weary of politicians who promise one thing but then do just the opposite when elected to office, who arrogantly do what they please without concern for their constituents. I am tired of both Republicans and Democrats blaming each other instead of solving problems.
I have reached the point where I cannot afford politicians who spend with little or no regard for how their decisions affect the average person. I am disgusted with politicians who look out for themselves first, who blatantly lie about their track records, who grow wealthy through inflated salaries and luxurious pensions at the expense of taxpayers. I am very disappointed in naive leaders who make bad deals at home and abroad.
If others feel as I do, that may be why Trump is having such an impact. He is not politically correct, but he is his own man and is beholden to no one.
Is he what America needs as a president? Possibly not, but I am willing to consider his refreshing, honest approach.
