It appears that Ray Sigler really has his shorts in a knot because I used his real name in a letter. (But I didn’t get it from a phone book.) If I had his real first name, I would not like it. His comment about my name only exposed his lack of depth. I was actually named after my great grandfather who was a St. Clair County businessman of some stature.
Ray is correct about his comments on natural history. There have been many forms of climate change over the eons. But this one is different.
First, the people of those times had no warning. They actually had nothing to do with it happening. They were caused by several things, from meteor impacts to volcanoes which blocked the sun suddenly. From the Industrial Revolution to now; it is we who have done it to ourselves by burning fossil fuels which destroy the atmosphere and block the sun. Nikola Tesla, warned us 90 years ago what would happen if fossil fuels became our primary energy source, but it was cheap and convenient so we ignored him.
Secondly, no prior generation had a clue about how they could control it or diminish the consequences. We do. But we can go into denial now.
