This is a clash of ideologies between Gov. Bruce Rauner and the Democratic Illinois legislature. Gov. Rauner understands the common business principles of innovation and productivity, which drive economic growth. Economic growth brings higher-wage jobs and an improved standard of living. In the past 20 years however, the Democratic legislature’s only innovative ideas have been how many different ways can they raise your taxes, give themselves pay raises while increasing state debt, and how to make state government as large and inefficient as possible. Innovation and productivity are foreign concepts to a Democrat. In the private sector innovation and productivity are rewarded. In the government sector expanding head count and increased bureaucracy to thwart productivity and efficiency are rewarded.
Gov. Rauner wants to combine state departments performing duplicate services and waste your tax money. This would save the state (taxpayers) money and help reduce the $111 billion plus Democratic debt. What is the debtocrats answer to efficiency? Raise your taxes and increase spending. Anyone heard a debtocrat brag about how much money they saved the taxpayers? Not in my lifetime.
Whether you pay taxes or not, it is in your best interest if the bloated, inefficient, unproductive state government can be brought under control. As we see, uncontrolled debt has killed state growth. You should support Gov. Rauner’s efforts to save the state money, and make government more efficient and productive.
