I cannot think of enough superlatives to describe Mike Fitzgerald’s NGA article in a recent Belleville News-Democrat. My only criticism is that he may have been too kind to the authors of the Final Environmental Impact Statement in describing the various misinformation statements as “mistakes.” When these authors of the FEIS confuse St. Clair County, Ill. with St. Clair County, Mich., or with St. Clair County, Mo., this type of “mistake” can only be manufactured in two different manners. Either the authors are completely ignorant in doing their research, or they are using the deceptive practice of using lies, half-truths, or facts avoidance to disinform the public. Were the authors hoping, as Allen Dulles stated after the release of the Warren Commission Report, “the American people don’t read?”
Within 5 minutes of reading Fitzgerald’s article, I saw Fox 2 News reporter Chris Regnier reporting within the main gate of the St. Louis Arsenal Grounds containing the NGA Museum. Mike Fitzgerald wrote an informative article on this museum in the Nov. 4, 2015 edition of the BND. Regnier gave a synopsis of Fitzgerald’s report in all the morning news hours as well as Channel 2s 11 a.m. news. I guess “some American people do read (the news), Mr. Dulles.” Let’s all hope NGA Director Cardillo reads and digests the facts given in this fine article and then makes his final decision based on the true facts of which NGA site is best for our country’s security and at the cheapest cost.
