Another fatality at the intersection of Highway 161 and Shiloh Station Road. This time it was 23 year old Douglas Landers of O’Fallon. In the past 18 years I think there have been three fatalities at this intersection. A turning lane for eastbound traffic turning onto Shiloh Station Road was made a while back, but a traffic signal would be a big help for safety.
Some of the cars heading toward Scott are doing 60-70 mph in the morning. That makes it very difficult to make the left turn onto 161.
How many fatalities are required for the Illinois Department of Transportation to install a traffic signal? They have not responded to my request for information.
