To Belleville News-Democrat readers I apologize for writing this letter. As so often in the past, Frankie Seaberry on April 17 totally misses the mark. I do not write letters willy nilly to bash President Obama.
I do, however, take exception to the erroneous assertions, fractured fairy tales, and Twilight Zone logic peddled by ideologues who so eagerly still blame Bush, Reagan, Fox News, British, Jews, Congress, wealthy, business, etc. for our current difficulties in order to cover for a president they so desperately want to be viewed as successful. Mr. Obama may very well be “astute, compassionate and diplomatic.” Great. But that has nothing to do with his rhetoric versus reality performance.
Neither am I an ideologue as Seaberry assumes. While censuring Obama paladins who offer particularly illusory commentary, I’ve credited Obama for saving the economy from the brink, killing Bin Laden, heath care and green energy awareness. Certainly, to their glee, I’ve also recognized Bush’s $5 trillion debt liability. That’s quite non-partisan, given the likes of Seaberry’s recurrent and absolute lock step course of conflict and calumny for all things Republican. In fact, I am an independent, who, from the beginning, supported a very genuine “astute, compassionate and diplomatic” Dr. Ben Carson.
