I applaud local officials’ attempts to have the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency location decision reconsidered. Sadly, I believe their efforts are wasted.
The decision to locate the NGA in Missouri instead of Illinois was likely orchestrated from the highest levels of the White House. The intent is to put the state of Missouri in play for the Democrats in the upcoming general election.
Illinois is a given for the Democrats so we can be politically trampled with little consequence for the National Democrat Party.
Have any doubt? Illinois’ powerful Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin made the obligatory hand-wringing comment following the decision and, since, has remained silent. He’s not up for re-election. His efforts are aimed at Democrat gains in the general election. Whatever cost in an effective NGA location and jobs for St. Clair County and Illinois, so be it.
