Belleville Township Supervisor
After the outrage over the East St. Louis Township, why are people not as disgusted with the Belleville Township Supervisor? You can’t give people a pay raise with money you don’t have in your budget. It’s silly to think that Union members are going to work for free or without pay and comp time means you are giving someone paid time off during a future pay period. If someone works 4 hours comp time, they are going to get paid later for 36 hours, but being paid for a 40 hour week. Who teaches these people these things? The Township attorney really has no issue over it and that is really disappointing and disgusting. Check into this misconduct.
What is going on in the old Washington Park? A one-time nice and cozy the Park, (Mayberry). Who is the street supervisor? I heard his name was Ray Coleman, he needs to take care of the back streets that are unsafe. Big Pot holes, trash, tall weeds. You people can do better, or your time is up! The mayor is doing the best she can, with what little help she gets. Last year three new trustees said they wanted to clean up and give us all much needed services and hope. What a joke. This is now the devil’s playground, pitch in all you citizens. Help the mayor and stop all the dumping on the back streets.
Never miss a local story.
I’m tired of handicapped parking places. I have yet to see an officer give anyone a ticket for not having a plate. Today I walked to the store, noticed a woman with a walker, getting out of her car getting out at the end of the aisle. All the parking places were taken. But the one that set me off was the fancy little sports car, with “SASSI” on the plates. No special plates, not supposed to be parked in handicapped. The car was locked up motor running. Maybe Illinois wouldn’t be in so much trouble if they would go out and give tickets to people parking in handicapped places.
Regarding your editorial on Muslims on June 23rd, I don’t believe one word of it and I hope most right thinking Americans don’t either. It sounds just like a page from Obama’s playbook about let’s just all love those Muslims while they try to kill us. Bring in millions more who will try and change our culture, including many out right terrorist to kill us. McCoy’s cartoon on the same page was much more truthful than your editorial. Getting Trump elected president can put a stop to this madness.
I have been attending DIVA night for several years and my understanding was DIVA night was set up to let people know about the small business in the area which I think is a great idea and I enjoy the evening as I can get some shopping done after work instead of having to wait till the weekend. I do not understand why all the stores do not participate as surely they can afford to open later 1 day a month so they can stay open till at least 7 or 7:30 to participate and then we could end at 7:45 and maybe for once the coordinator would start on time instead of waiting till they thought everyone was finished shopping.
It’s amazing, finally someone is giving Donald Trump credit, saying yesterday he read off the teleprompter, he stayed on message and his speech was much better. The other commentator says that is ridiculous, giving a man kudos because he can read off a teleprompter. These are the same people who support Obama, who never gives a speech unless he is reading off the teleprompter. That is the only thing he does is read off the teleprompter. Just like our liberal society.
Try to remember
Please try and remember whatever your complaints are about St. Clair County, you don’t know nothing yet. Try to remember that Gov. Rauner and candidate Romanik were gifts to you from the NRA. And they would like to take over this area and run it their way. If you think it is bad now, go ahead and let them do that, then you will really need a gun.
Took a stand
The Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives took a stand on gun control. The Republicans however, caved to the likes of Donald Trump.
I’m surprised no story has been written as to “if the area had gotten NGA, what it would have done to the political balance in St. Clair County.” Of the 3,000 jobs, 1,500 of them, would have moved into St. Clair County possibly. That’s 1,500 Republicans and their wives and husbands. What could that have done to the political makeup of St. Clair County? Guess we will always wonder.
Hit nail on the head
A letter to the editor by Mr. Fairbanks, he hits the nail on the head. An unbalanced budget proposed by the Democrats, passed by a vote of 60 to 53. With all the Democrats stepping in line, and following their party’s policy. To our local politicians, why don’t you do your job and quit following the politics of the Democratic Party. Had Mr. Jackson, Hultgren, Costello, voted against the budget, it would have been 56 to 57 and it would have failed. But Mr. Costello is more into Bobcat hunting and the color pink, instead of representing the voters. Get the Democrats out of office.
License sticker fines
About the fine on late license sticker renewal, this had to be thoroughly planned in advance, to create a windfall for the State. Every official connected to this fraud should hear about it and be voted out of office.
Let Vatican help
All these Syrian refugees should go over to Rome and let the Vatican help them.
I’d like to offer a thanks to the Belleville Police Department for hosting the open house for the new station. The station is fabulous. Those who attended were greeted wholeheartedly by the officers, answer questions and it’s a good thing for Belleville. I hope they are happy with their new home. They deserve it and waited a long time and was granted a nice new home.
While we are condemning Muslims and many others and singing God Bless America and speaking in God we Trust, try to remember this. There is only one God. And the God those people are praying to be the same one we are praying to. We are asking him to take sides in our human argument that is totally ridiculous and solved only by ourselves.
I was driving on Illinois 159 when I came upon a commotion in the road, ducklings and ma ducklings were trying to cross when they were mowed down. Another vehicle stopped, shuffled the ducks to safety and then removed the dead ducklings. It was Jim Renner from Renner Funeral home. He shows compassion for animals as well as people.
There seems to be a litter problem in Belleville. I’d like to see trash cans put around the city. People walking and eating from fast food restaurants need a trash can to dispose of the containers. Please put some trash cans out. North Belt West in particular needs some trash cans. It can only help keep our city clean.
