TURN 2 BASEBALL -- San Diego Padres scout and former McKendree University and Southwestern Illinois College coach Van Smith has joined the Turn 2 Sports Training Facility in Collinsville as one of its pitching instructors. Smith is offering a series of four-week pitching sessions and instruction now through Sept. 26, Sept. 27-Oct. 24 and Nov. 17-Dec. 23 with more lessons possible in January and February. Sessions are available for teams or individual players, fees vary. Turn 2 also is offering a cage ball league Oct. 4 through December and again in January-March for 11-under, 14-under and adult leagues (ages 15-50).
