Former Cahokia High all-state receiver Jimmie Hunt, who caught 40 passes for 698 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior at Missouri last season, has signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent.
Hunt was not selected in the NFL Draft, but reportedly had interest from several teams. He decided to sign with the Packers, where the offense is led by Aaron Rodgers, one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and features star receivers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb.
Hunt had a strong senior season but also battled through injuries, including his knee and a shoulder injury that eventually required surgery. His top game was six catches for 169 yards in the Southeastern Conference championship loss against Alabama.
Hunt underwent shoulder surgery Dec. 17 and did not play in the Tigers’ 33-17 victory over Minnesota in the Citrus Bowl.
