East senior signs to fish at McKendree
McKendree University bass fishing coach Jon Rinderer recently added a local angler to his roster for next season.
Brady Faust, of Belleville East, signed earlier this week to join the program for the 2015-16 season.
The Bearcats are currently in their second season of competition and are ranked No. 14 in the latest Cabela’s School of the Year standings. McKendree is one of 292 colleges and universities competing in college bass fishing this year and are currently ranked ahead of University of Kentucky, University of Illinois, Purdue University, University of Louisville, and Michigan State University.

The Bearcats will return to the water on April 11 to compete in the FLW Tournament series at the Table Rock Lake Central Conference qualifier in Kimberling City, Mo.
SIUE matmen honoed by conference
Four Southern Illinois University Edwardsville wrestlers were named to the 2014-15 Winter Academic All-Southern Conference team, the league office announced Tuesday.
Jake Residori, Derek Nagel, Jake Tindle (Triad), and Chris Johnson were honored by the SoCon.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the winter season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
Residori, a junior, is a business major and holds a 3.37 grade point average. Nagel, a redshirt junior, is a criminal justice major and holds a 3.33 GPA. Tindle, a redshirt sophomore who was a national qualifier and the 197-pound SoCon champion, is a biochemistry major and has a 3.76 GPA. Johnson, a redshirt junior, is a construction management major with a 3.75 GPA.
Lady Lynx lose to national champions
The Lindenwood University–Belleville women’s lacrosse team played reigning national champion RMU–Chicago Eagles and dropped a 14-3 decision in college women’s lacrosse.
The Eagles scored the first seven goals of the game to take control and never look back.
With the loss, the Lady Lynx fall to 3-6 on the season. Next up, LU-Belleville will welcome Oklahoma Baptist to Lindenwood Stadium on April 10. First draw is set for 3 p.m.
