The McKendree University Bearcats dropped both ends of a baseball double header Sunday to visiting University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
The Bearcats battled back from an 8-1 deficit in the first game to take the lead with an 8-run fourth inning, but the visitors scored two in the top of the seventh for the 10-9 win.
McKendree second-baseman Tyson Boehne and left fielder Grant Anderson each had a double and a single to lead the Bearcats’ 9-hit attack.
Designated hitter Jake Kolasinski drove in two runs for the visitors with a home run in the first inning.
In the second game, Wisconsin-Parkside outscored McKendree 12-2 over the first six innings and held on for a 13-6 win.
McKendree right fielder Jay Roberts had a double and single in the game, while teammates Brad Groleau and Zach Klockowski each added a pair of hits. Boehne also
doubled for the Bearcats and catcher Austin Avalos drove in 2 runs with an eighth-inning single.
The Bearcats used five pitchers in the game, and yielded homers to Kolasinski and Ryan Holander.
McKendree fell to 7-19 (6-12 in conference play), while Wisconsin-Parkside improved to 8-13 (7-11 conference).
McKendree next plays a double header starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Quincy University.
