BELLEVILLE Lindenwood University-Belleville Director of Athletics Scott Spinner has announced the 2015 fall schedule for women’s volleyball.
The Lady Lynx will begin their second season in the American Midwest Conference and are all coming off a postseason appearance in 2014.
LU-Belleville is coming off an 18-12 year that saw them finish sixth in the AMC and qualify for the conference tournament in their first season in the league. The 2015 schedule is highlighted by three regular season tournaments in the first month, and a conference match-up with defending National Champion, Park University. The Lady Lynx will also host their annual Dig Pink night on Oct. 13 to help with Cancer Research.
REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENTS
Never miss a local story.
Three non-conference games precede the Evangel University Tournament (Sept. 11-12) which will see the Lady Lynx paired against College of the Ozarks and Evangel on the opening day. The tournament will conclude as the Lady Lynx take on John Brown University and Cumberland University.
The final regular season tournament will be held by MidAmerica Nazarene (Sept. 25-26). Beginning with Baker University, the Lady Lynx will then take on MidAmerica Nazarene on the first day. The tournament concludes with the Lady Lynx taking on Evangel and Benedictine University.
HOME OPENER AND CONFERENCE PLAY
The home opener will follow the St. Thomas Tournament as the Lady Lynx host Missouri Valley College (Aug. 25). The Lady Lynx split two meetings with Missouri Valley last season, as each team defended their home court. This year, the two teams will play a non-conference home and home series with the final match being held at Missouri Valley (Oct. 22).
The Evangel Tournament serves as the final tune-up before conference play starts, as the Lady Lynx travel to St. Louis College of Pharmacy (Sept. 15) and Stephens College (Sept. 22) to open the AMC schedule.
A tough stretch follows for the Lady Lynx as their next three conference games will be against three of the top four teams from the 2014 season. The Lady Lynx travel to Columbia College (9/29) and Missouri Baptist (10/1) before hosting their first conference game of the year as William Woods (10/6) comes to Lynx Arena.
DIG PINK AND HOMECOMING
The Dig Pink game will be played against Oakland City College on Oct. 13. There will be an Alumni Game on Friday, October 16th, which will be held during Homecoming Weekend.
The schedule concludes with the final seven matches against AMC opponents. Hannibal-LaGrange (Oct. 24) and Park University (Oct. 26) come to Belleville before the Lady Lynx travel to Freed-Hardeman (Oct. 30), Central Baptist (Oct. 31), and Harris-Stowe State (Nov. 3). The final two regular season games will be home matches for the Lady Lynx as they host Williams Baptist (Nov. 6) and Lyon College (Nov. 7), which will serve as senior day for the Lady Lynx.
