The St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday placed outfielder Shane Robinson on the 15-day disabled list because of a left shoulder subluxation, or a slight misalignment of the vertebrae.
Robinson suffered the injury in the Cardinals' 3-2 victory over the Pirates on Monday night at PNC Park.
Outfielder Randal Grichuk, acquired from the Los Angeles Angels last winter, has been recalled from Class AAA Memphis to take Robinson's spot on the roster.
Grichuk will be available Tuesday in the second game of the series against the Pirates. He is wearing No. 15.
Grichuk, 23, appeared in 19 games for the Cardinals in two prior stints this season, batting .136 (6-for-44) with one home run and three RBIs. He made his major-league debut April 28.
Grichuk, a right-handed hitter, was batting .259 with a team-high 25 home runs and 71 RBIs in 108 games at Memphis. His .493 slugging percentage also leads the team, and he's batting .325 against left-handed pitching.
He has 28 walks and 108 strikeouts in 436 at-bats, and carries a low .311 on-base percentage.
