Jason Isringhausen, the Birds' former closer, has caught on with the Tampa Bay Rays, although he will start the season on the disabled list. He provides cheap insurance for Tampa and could come back sometime in May if all goes well.
Never miss a local story.
Meanwhile, Jeff Suppan has been named Milwaukee's opening day starter.
Hired following the 2006 World Series to be the Brewers' third starter, Suppan graduated to the head of the class with the defection of C.C. Sabathia to the Yankees and the free agent exit of Ben Sheets.
