Former Cardinals pitcher/disabled list squatter Mark Mulder will meet with the Brewers on Thursday to talk about a possible contract, according to mlb.com.
Mulder, who has been unable to get healthy since he went down to a shoulder injury in 2006 (that he probably actually suffered with Oakland in 2004), would be reunited in Milwaukee with his pitching coach when he was with Oakland, Rick Peterson.
Because of his injury troubles, the Brewers are said to be offering only a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. But Mulder could potentially win the spot in the Milwaukee rotation vacated by former Cardinals pitcher Braden Looper.
I wonder if the Cardinals would be interested in bringing Looper back at the right price. He has experience as a late inning bullpenner, which the Cardinals most need. But he could pitch in the rotation if one of the Cardinals other starters is injured, giving the team some much-needed insurance.
