It's been a bad week for former Cardinals pitchers.
Jason Isringhausen, who signed with Cincinnati in his latest comeback bid, has a 9.53 ERA at Class AAA Louisville.
Friday night he pitched against Colorado springs and gave up four runs -- three earned -- on two hits and a walk in an inning pitched. The big blow was a homer allowed, which was his second in 5 2/3 innings pitched. He's walked seven and struck out five in that stretch. He's allowed runs in four of seven appearances.
That's better than what happened to former St. Louis hurlers Ron Villone and Todd Wellemeyer.
Villone was released from Washington's Class AAA club in Syracuse where he was 2-5 with a 6.59 ERA. It appears that the 40-year-old lefty may be at the end of the line...
Wellemeyer was designated for assignment by the Giants. In San Francisco he was 3-5 with a 5.68 ERA.
