Add former Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen's name to the list of players that the Toronto Blue Jays are floating to potential trade partners.
Rolen, who makes $11 million this season and next under the contract he signed with the Cardinals after arriving from Philadelphia, is in the midst of a 24-game hitting streak. But the power outage he has suffered following a string of shoulder problems has continued this season. Rolen has only six home runs as the All-Star Game approaches.
Traded to Toronto after he demanded a change of scenery following a very public fallout with St. Louis skipper Tony La Russa, Rolen struggled to stay healthy in 2008. But he has been on the field regularly this year and wielding his gold glove at the hot corner.
He certainly still has something to offer to a team that acquired him. But how much of his contract would the Blue Jays have to eat to strike a deal?
