The Cardinals will have to look elsewhere in their search for a bat and a new second baseman. Atlanta has acquired the former Marlins slugger.
GM John Mozeliak must not have offered much for Uggla, who would have likely been awarded around $10 million in arbitration for the 2011 season. Atlanta landed Uggla for only utility man Omar Infante and lefty reliever Mike Dunn.
As I have said repeatedly, I don't think Uggla was a good fit for a team that is trying to improve its defense. Plus, he strikes out a ton and makes way too much money.
