Class AAA Memphis:
After a slow start, Memphis infielder Matt Carpenter has started to warm up at the plate. He's hitting .269 with two doubles and a homer. He's hitting .500 over his last four games -- 7-for-14 -- including a homer Saturday against the Iowa Cubs.
Shortstop Freddie Bynum is hitting .310 for the Redbirds with two homers and a double in 29 at bats. The lefty hitter is batting .412 against righthanded pitchers but is only hitting .167 against southpaw.
Centerfielder Adron Chambers has a .292 batting average with a .382 on base percentage. He's got 14 hits and seven walks to his credit and has stolen two bases in four attempts.
Pitching prospect Lance Lynn is 1-2 with a 2.66 ERA. In his most recent start against Omaha, Lynn allowed one run on four hits over seven innings but was tagged with the loss. In 20 2/3 innings Lynn has allowed 18 hits while striking out 14 and walking five.
Brandon Dickson is also suffering from a lack of support. He's got a 1.89 ERA but an 0-2 record to show for it. He's allowed 16 hits in 19 innings with 18 strikeouts and five walks allowed.
Class AA Springfield:
Shortstop Ryan Jackson leads the S-Cards in hitting with a .375 batting average and a .446 on base percentage. He's hit eight doubles in 16 games.
Advanced Class A Palm Beach:
Zack Cox, last year's top St. Louis draft pick is off to a good start in a tough league for hitters. He's got a .299 batting average. But he needs to work on his plate discipline with 15 strikeouts against four walks in 17 games played.
Highly touted pitching prospect Shelby Miller is 0-1 after three starts with a 2.55 ERA. He's allowed 16 hits in 17 2/3 innings with an impressive 28 strikouts compared to three walks.
