The Cardinals have added 41-year-old former Rangers southpaw Arthur Rhodes to their bullpen corps.
Rhodes was designated for assignment and then released by the Rangers because of some pretty mediocre numbers. But the Ballpark at Arlington is one of the toughest venues in the majors on hurlers. And the veteran lefty's numbers were much more encouraging on the road.
Hitters battered Rhodes to the tune of a .321 average at the Ballpark at Arlington where he had a 5.93 batting average. On the road batsmen averaged only .244 and his ERA was a much more respectable 3.38.
Marc Rzepczyski, landed from the Blue Jays in the Colby Rasmus trade, hasn't performed well in limited action since the swap. So it will be nice to have an experience option against tough lefthanded hitters.
