Cardinals starter Edwin Jackson left his start Sunday night against the rockies with an apparent hamstring injury.
Following his 98th pitch of the game Jackson called the St. Louis trainer to the mound and seemed to indicate his right hamstring was bothering him. The righthanded hurler, acquired in the trade that sent Colby Rasmus to Toronto, pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on eight hits.
All of the damage came in the first end as the Birds trailed 2-0 after half a frame. But the Cardinals scored four runs in their at bat to put Jackson in line for a victory at the time he departed.
Jackson is 8-8 on the season and was 1-1 for the Redbirds at the start of the Sunday game.
