The Cardinals, 1-4 on their six-game road trip through Cincinnati and Milwaukee, will be without two of their best hitters in its final game.
Matt Holliday will not start thanks to a big old bruise he got yesterday when he was hit by a pitch. Meanwhile, right fielder Carlos Beltran, who looks like he's swinging a lead bat lately, will get yet another day off.
Lance Berkman, who ought to be fresh with how sparingly he's played since returning from the disabled list, will man first base while Matt Carpenter will help out in the outfield.
It's a bad way to finish the road trip because there's a mighty big difference between 2-4 and 1-5. But also because it's making me nervous that Beltran keeps getting rested and never seems to get back up to snuff.
Never miss a local story.
Last night he started the game in centerfield -- but today he's too sore to play right? What gives?
