Still bummed out that the Cardinals didn't sign former Astros ace Roy Oswalt when they had the chance?
Oswalt has pitched so poorly since opting to ink a deal with the Rangers that Texas manager Ron Washington has pulled him from the starting rotation. That's gotta irk ol' Roy because Texas initially asked him to be a reliever and he declined.
With a record of 3-2 and an ERA of 6.49, Oswalt has allowed an eye popping 54 hits in 34 2/3 innings this season. He's struck out a respectable 29. But Oswalt has allowed a ridiculous seven home runs in his brief stay in Arlington.
The odd thing is that there is no middle ground. Oswalt has alternately been brilliant and then been hammered. He shut down red hot Oakland with three hits and one run allowed in 6 1/3 innings. His next outing he was pounded with eight runs on 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings by the Angels.
Newly-acquired former Cubs starter Ryan Dempster will take Oswalt's place in the Texas rotation.
