One former Cardinals infielder has replaced another on the roster of the Washington Nationals.
Washington has claimed Caesar Izturis on waivers from the Brewers and it placed Mark DeRosa on the disabled list to make room for the new guy.
The Nats will be Izturis' eighth major league club. The 32 year old infielder hit .235 in 57 games with Milwaukee, appearing in the Cardinals recently-completed sweep of its 2011 National League Championship Series foe.
DeRosa, who has struggled with his health since about the time he was traded to the Redbirds in 2009 by Cleveland, hit .152 in 34 games with the Nationals before he was shut down.
