The Houston Astros have inked former St. Louis Cardinals reliever Pat Neshek to a two-year contract.
Consider it a favor from Houston GM Jeff Luhnow, formerly of the St. Louis front office, because fellow National League Central Division residents, the Pittsburgh Pirates, were also said to have interest in the righty with the funky delivery.
Neshek, inked a one-year, $1 million deal last year with the Redbirds. He'll get a hefty raise after a super season, earning $12.5 million over two years with the Astros.
He was 7-2 with a 1.72 ERA and earned an All-Star appearance in his lone season with st. Louis. Neshek struck out 68 and walked nine.
Never miss a local story.
In addition to the Pirates and Astros, Neshek's first MLB club, the Minnesota Twins, supposedly had interest.
