Blues set to kick off season by introducing Stastny

The St. Louis Blues will introduce new center Paul Stastny as well as their new-look on-ice gear in a 6 p.m. "Ice Breaker" fan event Monday at Ballpark Village near Busch Stadium.

Fans are invited to attend the event, which will include Blues captain David Backes along with teammates Stastny, Barret Jackman, T.J. Oshie and Alex Pietrangelo along with former Blues greats Brett Hull and Bob Plager.

They will get to see the franchise's new jerseys and have an opportunity to win prizes with live music provided by the Charles Glenn Band.

Stastny, 28, joined the Blues in early July when the former Colorado Avalanche center and St. Louis native signed a four-year deal worth $28 million. The deal includes a no-trade clause.

Stastny is coming off a season that saw him score 25 goals and 60 points in 71 games for the Avalanche. He grew up in St. Louis and is the brother of former Blues player Yan Stastny and the son of former Blues and NHL great Peter Stastny.

The Blues open their preseason schedule Sept. 21 at Columbus. The regular season opener is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at Scottrade Center against the New York Rangers.
