Miners hand loss to Grizzlies

The visiting Gateway Grizzlies managed just three hits Thursday night in a 1-0 loss to the Southern Illinois Miners at Rent One Park at Marion.

The Miners (33-25) stretched their lead over the Grizzlies (30-28) to three games in the Frontier League West Division.

Kevin House, Stephen Holdren and Michael Campbell had the Grizzlies only hits, all singles.

The Miners scored their only run in the second inning off Grizzlies starter Adam Revelette.-

Brandon Jones doubled to lead off the inning, then scored when Brendan Akashian's ground ball deflected off the third base bag.

Revelette (2-4) suffered the loss despite a strong outing.-He tossed seven innings, allowing the one run on eight hits.-He struck out six and walked just one.

The Grizzlies and the Miners continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game today in Marion.
