Even though his 12-game hitting streak came to an end Wednesday, Althoff High graduate and former Eastern Illinois University player Erik Huber is still swinging a hot bat.
Huber leads the Pittsburgh Pirates' Class A West Virginia Power affiliate in hitting with a .323 average, is tied for the third-highest average in the South Atlantic League.
A rare hitless night Wednesday was Huber's first since June 14. Playing first base and batting third, Huber hit .418 (23-for-55) during the 12-game hitting streak with 10 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
He had a 4-for-5 night against Lake County on Tuesday and has 16 doubles, four home runs and 35 RBIs this season.
