The McKendree Bearcats pushed their record to 3-0 with a 65-53 victory Saturday at home against Ohio Dominican University.

The Bearcats' big men played a big role in the win as junior forward Brad Copelin led the way with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while senior forward Kenny Detmer chipped in with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The victory was the 998th in the career Bearcat coach Harry Statham, who is the all-time wins leader in men's college basketball.

Aaron Gibbs paced Ohio Dominican with 17 points and nine rebounds. Zak Kapron added 10 points for the Panthers.

In Carbondale, Nick Evans tipped in a basket at the final buzzer to lift the Salukis to a nonconference victory.

The Screaming Eagles owned a 10-point lead midway through the second half before SIUC rallied.

Tony Freeman and Kevin Dillard, who finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively, spurred the comeback as the Salukis went to a smaller lineup.
