Susan Boyle Shares Rare Update After Serious Health Struggle

Susan Boyle is offering rare insight into her recovery after suffering a stroke in 2022.

The 65-year-old singer, who rose to fame in 2009 after her Britain's Got Talent performance, opened up about her "difficult" rehabilitation process in a recent interview with The Sun.

"It feels surreal to be here now," Boyle, who is celebrating her return to music with a new take of the Cornetto ice cream jingle, titled "Just One," told the outlet. "I never thought I would be able to come this far. I've had a lot of encouragement and the public have been so loving to me."

Boyle revealed that she's been through "a lot" of speech therapy during her rehabilitation process, sharing, "It was difficult at first, but after the first few weeks, my voice slowly started to come back. I have been having a lot of vocal lessons, too, for my singing."

Boyle first shared the news of her stroke in June 2023 after making an emotional return to Britain's Got Talent, where she performed her original audition song, "I Dreamed a Dream," alongside the cast of Les Misérables.

"This evening was even more special for me as in April of 2022 I had a stroke," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "For the past year I have worked so hard to get my speech and singing back, with the sole aim of being able to sing on stage again & tonight my hard work & perseverance paid off, singing the song that started it all, ‘I Dreamed A Dream'…"
