The Wolf Among Us 2 Finally Returns as Telltale Revives Bigby Wolf's Story
For years, The Wolf Among Us 2 seemed like one of gaming's most elusive projects. Originally announced in 2019, the sequel endured studio closures, restructuring, delays, and long periods of silence that left many fans wondering whether it would ever arrive. Now, after years of uncertainty, Telltale Games has finally brought the game back into the spotlight with a new trailer and a confirmed 2027 release window.
Revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026, The Wolf Among Us 2: A Telltale Series will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. The announcement marks the long awaited return of Bigby Wolf, the sheriff of Fabletown and protagonist of the original game.
Like its predecessor, The Wolf Among Us 2 is based on Bill Willingham's Fables comic series. The setting revolves around Fabletown, a hidden community in New York City where characters from fairy tales, folklore, and legends live secretly among ordinary humans. The original game became one of Telltale's most acclaimed releases thanks to its noir atmosphere, memorable characters, and emphasis on player choices.
Bigby Wolf Returns to Fabletown
For those unfamiliar with the series, Bigby Wolf is the reformed version of the Big Bad Wolf from classic fairy tales. In the world of Fables, he serves as sheriff of Fabletown and is responsible for keeping order among its residents.
One of the reasons the original game earned such a dedicated following was its portrayal of Bigby as a complex character constantly balancing his violent past with his duties as a protector. The sequel appears ready to continue exploring those themes. Official information states that Bigby will once again face difficult choices while deciding what kind of sheriff, and what kind of wolf, he wants to be.
The Original Game Is Also Getting a Remaster
Alongside the sequel announcement, Telltale revealed The Wolf Among Us Remastered, which is scheduled to launch during the 2026 holiday season. The remaster is intended to introduce new players to Bigby's first case while giving longtime fans an updated version of the original adventure.
According to Telltale, the remaster rebuilds and refines the 2013 classic while preserving the story that made it so popular. The original game followed Bigby as he investigated a grisly murder that uncovered a much larger threat lurking beneath the surface of Fabletown. With the sequel finally arriving in 2027, the remaster gives players an opportunity to revisit that story or experience it for the first time before the next chapter begins.
After nearly a decade of waiting, The Wolf Among Us 2 is finally becoming a reality. Between the return of Bigby Wolf, a new conspiracy threatening Fabletown, and the simultaneous revival of the original game through a remaster, 2026 and 2027 will be significant years for one of Telltale's most beloved series.
