Walt Disney World Suddenly Closes Attractions Following Earthquake Felt in Florida (Report)

Several attractions, mainly roller coasters, at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, have been closed after an earthquake was felt in the area, according to Thrill Geek.

Currently, the My Disney Experience App shows several rides at the parks being "temporarily closed," including Space Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and TRON.

It is presumed that these rides will undergo standard safety protocol before being re-opened.

Parade has reached out to Disney World for comment.

The National Weather Service in Miami has confirmed that a 6.1 magnitude earthquake occurred just west of Cuba in the Gulf. There is currently no tsunami threat to the state of Florida.

Thousands of Florida residents and tourists alike felt the shaking around 2:15 p.m. local time on June 8.

"Felt it in Jacksonville. I knew it was an earthquake from my experience out west. It was pretty noticeable. Shook my whole house back and forth," one person in Florida wrote on X.

"I'm near Sarasota, FL and felt it. The bed shook lightly for 10 or so seconds," someone else said.

"West Melbourne here. So weird, thought I felt an odd movement but it was brief. Wrote it off as my body being weird or maybe a second of mild vertigo. I'll be damned," a third comment read.

Interestingly, some people in the state say they felt nothing at all.

It's unclear how long Disney World will keep its attractions closed.
