Youth return from mission, singing trip

ReSONate, the youth choir from First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, recently completed a six-day mission trip and singing tour to Ypsilanti, Mich.

Twenty-two junior high and high school students and 10 adults made the trip June 7-12 to help a new church plant, called Connections Community Church, spread the to the community.

Each day began with prayer walking in neighborhoods near the church meeting place. The group passed out fliers and hosted a block party and concert. Two days were spent hosting an "absolutely free," and some group members cleaned and helped at a local food co-op in Ypsilanti.

Belleville woman elected to committee

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Central/Southern Illinois Synod has elected Diane Maertens of Calvary Lutheran Church in Belleville to its executive committee, during its annual meeting in Springfield.

Churches host movie nights

* The Okawville Foursquare Church, 2001 E. Stark St., Okawville, will host the movie, "Thief in the Night Prophecy" series.

The series will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and July 5, 12 and 19 at the church.

Refreshments will be served after each movie.

* The Fairview Heights Church of God will offer a family film night at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.

"The Flamingo Rising" will be shown and snacks will be provided.

Catalyst will perform in Belleville

Catalyst, a Christian rock group, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Apostolic Church of Belleville, 1648 LaSalle St., Belleville.

Admission is free, however, donations will be taken.

Food and refreshments will be available after the church in the fellowship hall.

Southern gospel concert offered

A southern gospel concert featuring The Wanda Mountain Boys will be held at 7 p.m. July 4 at the Bethalto Church of God, 800 E. Bethalto Drive, Bethalto.
