VBS continues in metro-east

Vacation Bible School will be:

* Crossview Independent Assembly, 915 E. Highway 50, O'Fallon, 6:30-9:15 p.m. July 26-31. Theme is "Crocodile Duck."

* Grace Baptist Church, 2600 Edwards St., Granite City, 6:30-9 p.m. July 27-31 for children in Kindergarten through age 12.

* North End Missionary Baptist Church, 129 Exchange Ave., East St. Louis, 6-8 p.m. Monday-Friday. 271-1242.

Clothing, other items offered

Lighthouse Harvest Mission will offer free clothing and household items for people in need from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and again Aug. 15 at State Park Community Center on Harvard Street, across from Alpha Omega Church in State Park.

Church offers film night

Central Christian Church, 2020 Johnson Road, Granite City, will offer a family film night at 7 p.m. today at the church.

"The Ultimate Gift" will be shown. Soda and popcorn will be furnished at 6 p.m. Attendance prizes will also be given.

One-day workshop offered

Woman of the Word is a one-day workshop presented by Sister Christine Schenk. The workshop is designed to increase awareness about the invisibility of women's biblical leadership and to identify issues that contribute to this invisibility.

Schenk is executive director of FutureChurch, a national organization working for full participation of all Catholics in the life of the church, reflecting the values of Vatican II.

The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the Katy Cavins Center in O'Fallon.

The cost is $20 and registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Church offers six-week forum

A six-week summer forum will begin at 9:15 a.m. Sundays in the Parish Hall at St. George's Episcopal Church, 105 E. D St., Belleville. The series, "In the Beginning," is led by Father Dale Coleman, Priest-in-Charge and parishioner, Jim Massey.

The forum begins at 9:30 a.m. July 26 with an introduction to Genesis. Other dates are: "Genesis 1 and Genesis 2: The Differing creation accounts," 9:15 a.m. Aug. 2; "Other Middle Eastern, Greek, and Roman views" at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 9; "A scientist looks at Genesis" at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 16; "A dialogue on the American conflict over Genesis" at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 23; and "Genesis 3" at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 30.

Church celebrates pastor's anniversary

Grace Church will honor Pastor Hal Santos' 25th pastoral anniversary Sunday.

Guests will include guest worship leader Lenny Leblanc, and guest speakers Coach John Fox of the Carolina Panthers, former Million Dollar Man Ted DiaBiase and Pastor Kemp Holden.

Services are at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with a reception at 9:45 a.m.

The church is at 5151 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights.
