SEWING DAY: The Sew Belles Neighborhood Group of the American Sewing Guild is sponsoring a charity sewing day from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Belleville Sewing Center, 1801 N. Belt East, Belleville.
Sewers and non-sewers are needed to create cancer caps, teddy bears and blankets to be donated to various agencies.

OLD-FASHIONED PICNIC: The Illinois Trekkers will host a walk and old-fashioned picnic on Saturday under the pavilion at Tamarack Golf Course in Shiloh.
Registration is from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. The walk goes through the village of Shiloh. The picnic begins at 11:30 a.m.
The walk is $3 or $6 for the walk and picnic. Bring a side dish.

PLAY AUDITIONS: Auditions are underway for "The Butler Did It" at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Turkey Hill Grange, Green Mount Road and Highway 15 East, Belleville.
Auditions are by cold readings from the script.
There are parts for five men and five women ages 20 to 80 or older.
Performances are Sept. 25-27. A turkey dinner will be served with all performances.

FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY: The Misselhorn Art Foundation in Sparta is celebrating its 20th anniversary with several events.
Mayor Rob Link will make a proclamation for that week and a dinner reception will be Sept. 12.
On Sept. 20, an open house celebration will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at the gallery. A bronze bust of Roscoe Misselhorn will be unveiled during the open house. A commemorative Misselhorn lithograph will be given to the first 200 guests.
The gallery is at 611 W. Second St., Sparta.
PLAY AUDITIONS: Hard Road Theatre Productions will offer auditions for "12 Angry Jurors" at 10 a.m. Saturday and at 7 p.m. Monday at the Upper Elementary auditorium, 1800 Lindenthal Ave., Highland.
Auditions consist mostly of readings from the script.
Performances are scheduled for Oct. 2-3, 9-10 and Oct. 4.

FLAG-POLE DEDICATION: The Col. Hecker Camp #443 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will host a dedication of flag pole at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Walnut Hill Cemetery Civil War plot in Belleville.
Through the efforts of Eddie Wilson to become an Eagle Scout, a new 23-foot high flag pole has been erected on the Civil War plot at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Belleville. An American flag now waves over and honors the 70 soldiers interned there.
To honor the soldiers buried at the plot, their names and units will be announced.
