Fairview church is off to the races

The Fairview Heights Church of God will host its annual Grand Prix dinner and race at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, 5500 Old Collinsville Road, Fairview Heights.

Songwriter and worship leader Travis Cottrell will bring his Jesus Saves Live Tour to First Baptist Church in O'Fallon at 7 p.m. Friday.

First Baptist plans kids club, classes

First Baptist Church Fairview Heights AWANA registration continues through Sunday. Club meetings are for children 4 years old through sixth grade and will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23.

Topic: 'A Scientist Looks at Genesis'

St. George's Episcopal Church, 105 E. D St., Belleville, will host the fourth part of the six-week special summer forum at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the Parish Hall.

The topic this week is "A Scientist Looks at Genesis" with Jim Massey.

Maryville church gets a jump on fall

First Baptist Church of Maryville will host a fall kickoff Sunday through Aug. 23 at the church, 7110 State Route 162, Maryville.

Worship services are held at 8:15, 9:30 and 10:55 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sundays. Also, a new Sunday worship service called "The Gathering" will begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 13.

Wednesday night services are also held.

Church picnic at Moody Park

New Christian Fellowship Church will sponsor a church picnic from noon to 4 p.m. today at Moody Park (formerly Longacre), Pavilion No. 3, 525 S. Ruby Lane, Fairview Heights.

There will be food, activities, games, music and a hula hoop contest.

Church bazaar and yard sale

Mount Zion Mission East's annual church bazaar and yard sale will be held today at 425 N. 88th St., East St. Louis.

Church will host economy program

As part of St. Paul United Church of Christ's community outreach ministry, a free informational program will be presented at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church, Illinois 4 and East Dee St., Lebanon.

The program, "What the Heck is Going on with the Metro-East Economy?," will be led by Duane Roth, founder and president of The Roth Companies. He will discuss pension crisis, state of Illinois deficit reduction act, taxes, market decline, estate planning, real estate issues, healthcare, business owners, and Social Security.

Healing service Friday at shrine

A healing service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Church of Our Lady of the Snows, 442 S. DeMazenod Drive, Belleville.
